미술은 세상과 분리되지 않는다. 한국전쟁(1950~1953)의 참화를 겪었으며 여전히 잠재적 분쟁국가인 한국 사회, 하나의 지구촌인 국제사회 시민으로서 미국·이스라엘-이란 중동전을 보는 고영미(Ko Young-mee·46) 작가는 아픈 기억을 떠올린다.

Art is not separate from the world. Having endured the devastation of the Korean War (1950–1953), and as a member of South Korean society—which still remains a potential conflict zone—as well as a citizen of the global community, artist Ko Young-mee (46), while observing the U.S. and Israel–Iran conflict in the Middle East, is reminded of painful memories.
